I feel like there’s not a whole lot of stuff left on the Earth that can truly fascinate. With how global our society is and everything being just a click away the amazing can start to become mundane. However, one thing that has never failed to captivate me is the Tesla Model S, created by the Tesla Motor Company. Tesla is the first modern company that focuses entirely on building fully electric, non gas powered luxury cars. The take their name, and the basis of their technology from Nikola Tesla, a very prominent scientist from the 1900’s well known for his experimentation with electricity (and also carrier pigeons but that is neither here nor there.)
The Tesla Motor C
ompany is fascinating in an of its self, because it was founded by a bunch of guys that new little about selling cars, but a hell of a lot about science. Elon Musk, founder and CEO, also founded SpaceX, one of the most prominent space exploration companies spear heading the charger to colonize Mars. There’s a joke at Tesla that people that can’t cut it at Tesla end up working for Apple, so that speaks volumes about the quality of employees.
However, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing for the Palo Alto based tech giant. Early on in their development Tesla decided that they would forgo dealerships and auto lots in favor of selling their cars directly to customers, as that would be the most beneficial to both parties. Unfortunately many states require manufactures to go through a 3rd party for reasons that aren’t entirely clear, so Tesla is frequently in the news for being in court trying to overturn these bans and get access to more and more states, with tremendous success. More and more states are opening up and allowing Tesla to follow their unique business plan.
If you’re a fan of innovative I would highly recommend checking out Tesla, and if you wana learn more about the Model S and enjoy fun web comics read this – http://theoatmeal.com/comics/tesla_model_s
